// NPCs
Certain floors contain friendly (or at least non-hostile) characters. Walk into their tile to interact. Most NPCs open a menu; some will say something first.
The Merchant appears on every Rest Floor (every 5th floor). Walk onto his tile to open his shop. He sells consumable items, rings, weapons, and armor. His stock is randomly generated per rest floor — not every item is always available.
Items available in the Merchant's stock (randomized per floor):
See Items for specific prices and effects. The Merchant does not restock within a floor session. What you see is what's available.
You can sell weapons and armor you no longer want. The buyback value is lower than the purchase price. Selling is permanent — there is no buyback.
Access the Public Market through the Merchant on any rest floor. List any unequipped weapon, armor, ring, or consumable for sale at a price of your choosing. Instanced items carry their full stats and enhancement levels when sold. Browse listings by category and manage your active listings. When an item sells, BTC is credited to your wallet immediately — even if you're offline.
Beyond consumables and rings, the Merchant also stocks generic armor pieces. These serve as ingredients for crafting unique armor at Erok's Forge.
| Armor | Price | DEF | END Req. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chewed Undershirt | 60 | +2 | 4 |
| Drool-Proof Tunic | 130 | +5 | 7 |
| Slimed Flannel | 300 | +8 | 14 |
| Road Rash Jersey | 550 | +16 | 21 |
| Krampus Sweater | 900 | +32 | 33 |
Instanced items (weapons and armor) from both the Merchant and the Public Market have unique stat affix rolls — no two are guaranteed to be identical.
The Gambler appears on rest floors. He runs a casino with four games. The gambler stays on the floor after your first encounter, allowing repeated visits. Games are tracked per visit (not one-time).
Entry: 200 BTC. Roll two dice — land both on 6 (based on your LUK) for a stat boost. Limited to 5 plays per visit.
Entry: 1,000 BTC. Roll 2d6 — if the sum is 7 or greater, you double your stake. Sum below 7 loses it all. No per-visit cap.
Entry: 300 BTC. 3-reel slot with 7 weighted symbols. Match 3 for the jackpot, match 2 for a consolation prize. No per-visit cap.
Entry: 1,000 BTC. A random non-HP stat is selected. Win (45%): +2 to a different random stat. Lose: −1 from the wagered stat. No per-visit cap.
Erok appears on rest floors and runs the Forge. Walk into his tile to open the forge menu. The forge is unlocked by petting Erok — interact with him on any rest floor to unlock it permanently across all sessions.
Enhance weapons and armor from +0 (base) to +9. Each level increases the item's damage or defense by a multiplier. Levels +1 through +3 always succeed. From +4 onward, attempts carry risk of no change, degradation (−1), or destruction.

Instanced weapons and armor can be socketed with Gemstones. Each gem adds a permanent percentage-based stat bonus. Application cost scales with item grade (50–800 BTC). Socketing into an occupied slot replaces the old stat.
| Gem | Stat Bonus | Apply Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Gem of Attack | +ATK% | 50–800 |
| Gem of Defense | +DEF% | 50–800 |
| Gem of Vitality | +HP% | 50–800 |
| Gem of Luck | +LUK% | 50–800 |
| Gem of Swiftness | +SPD% | 50–800 |
| Gem of Persuasion | +PRS% | 50–800 |
| Gem of Endurance | +END% | 50–800 |
| Gem of Strength | +STR% | 50–800 |
Instanced items with stat affixes can have their affixes re-rolled. The first re-roll on any item is free. After that, cost depends on grade:
Each re-roll replaces all current affixes with new random stat types and values.
A Carrier Pigeon perches at every rest hub you've visited. Interact with it to fast travel between any previously visited rest floor. This is a convenient way to revisit earlier Merchants, the Forge, or other NPCs without descending through the dungeon again.
Carrier Pigeons also appear as a consumable item (40 BTC from the Merchant). Using one during a dungeon floor teleports you back to the most recent rest hub instantly — useful for escaping a dangerous situation.
On the Rest Floor at depth 30, a special non-hostile version of the Gay Cocksucking Vampire stands near the center of the floor and offers you access to the Vampire Raid.
Walk up to them and interact to see the raid offer. For details on the Vampire Raid itself, see Vampire Raid.
